Pity Party with Gloom Shroom

My buddy Renée and I were having a hard week at work, so we decided to have a pity party today at lunch. We invited Gloom Shroom, then took turns ranting and fake-cried in unison on the count of three. It was actually very helpful! Gloom Shroom really does feel your pain.

Away to a Good Home

Today I packed up Diamond Shroom and Ice Crystal. As I wait for my organza pouches from Fetpak, I'm using temporary packaging. Turns out I kind of dig the temporary packaging! Pretty mesh with swirly glitter designs. I kind of think maybe I shouldn't have bought all those pouches!

Ice Crystal in particular is one of my favorite shroomies. I'm kind of sad to see it go! But of course I'm also glad to share the shroomie love. :)

OK, time to go - I can't tell you how badly I have to do laundry!

Prettier Packaging... On its Way!

Gone are the days when I'd pack my shroomies in tissue and bubble wrap and let that be the end. I just bought a bunch of organza drawstring bags from fetpak.com! Kind of a silly thing to be excited about, but I recently purchased a necklace as a gift from Starless Clay on Etsy, and I was really impressed with the packaging that it came in. It reminded me that the quality of the packaging has to match the quality of the product, thus I'm investing a little more on my packaging.

I didn't get around to making any new Shroomies this weekend, but all in all it's been a good week for my Shroomie business. I sold a handful of shrooms, got a couple of shroomie commission jobs, and of course got my packaging. Word of mouth has definitely been what's helped me most in terms of shroomie sales. Anyone who helps spread the word about my shroomies will earn my undying love (but not in a creepy way)!

This Weekend's Lineup

I'm still working on uploading all of last weekend's shroomies to Etsy. But meanwhile I'm working on the next batch of shroomies as well!

I'm currently working on a new Peacock shroom. I made one in the past, but it sold before I even got it up on Etsy. This was one of my favorite designs, so I'm looking forward to doing another. Here's a picture of the old Peacock shroom:

For this weekend, I also have planned a Bride Shroom and Groom Shroom, a rainy day shroom inspired by this weekend's weather, and maybe another decorative shroom using a popular textile pattern of some sort. I'm also thinking of exploring some different color palettes. If any one has any color suggestions or requests, bring 'em on!

And don't forget, I also do custom shroomie commissions. The base price is the same as my standard shroomie price - $12.50. Unless it uses lots of Swarovski crystals or has some other expensive material included, I'm generally able to hold that price.

Fat Fat Cockatiel

My Fat Fat Birds are inspired by birds when they get all fluffy and puffy. By the way, that picture up there is of Ebo when he was a baby.

I introduced Ebo to my Fat Fat Cockatiel. At first he wanted nothing to do with it, but then he finally accepted it enough that I could get a sweet photo shoot of the two of them together. By the way, please excuse Ebo's haphazard feathers; he's going through a very bad molt right now!

Welcome to the New Blog

I'm one of those people who gets all excited about my projects and can't shut up about them. So I've decided to post all of my shroomie-making experiences here! It doesn't sound like it'd be a huge story, but shroomie-making is more exciting than one might think. ;) I'll post some behind-the-scenes stuff and some works in progress here as well. I'll probably update every weekend, and maybe once during the week if something interesting is going on! I may also post about some other Etsy sellers whose work I admire.
